June 2026 Sales: Tata Punch And Nexon Lock Top Two, Maruti Still Owns The Ten

Tata Motors held the top two rungs of India's passenger vehicle sales chart in June 2026, with the Punch at 21,006 units and the Nexon at 18,335. Maruti Suzuki, however, occupied five of the ten slots, led by the Dzire in third. Mahindra, Hyundai and Kia rounded out the SUV rankings.
What was announced
Federation data for June 2026 places the Tata Punch (including Punch EV) at the top of India's passenger vehicle chart with 21,006 units, up from 10,446 units in June 2025. That is 101% year-on-year growth and a 13.46% share of the Top 10 basket. The Tata Nexon (including Nexon EV) held second with 18,335 units, a 58% year-on-year gain. Together, Tata's two SUVs delivered nearly 40,000 units in a single month.
Tata owns the top of the chart, but Maruti still owns the middle, and that is where most of India actually buys.
Maruti Suzuki placed five nameplates in the Top 10, more than any other brand. Mahindra's Scorpio and Scorpio N combined for the seventh spot. Hyundai and Kia also featured in the SUV rankings per the reported list.
| Rank | Model | Units |

| 1 | Tata Punch (incl. EV) | 21,006 |
| 2 | Tata Nexon (incl. EV) | 18,335 |

The Car Jury verdict
The headline story is Tata at the top, but the deeper story is Maruti's grip on the middle of the market. Five models in the ten, from Dzire to Fronx, is distribution muscle no rival can match today. Tata's Punch doubling year-on-year is the standout number, and Team-BHP of Team-BHP notes Tata pitched the Punch with 'no compromise SUV' and 'go anywhere' language at launch, a positioning that is clearly landing with entry buyers.
For buyers, the read is simple. If you want the Punch or Nexon, do not expect discounts; demand is real. Maruti's Wagon R, Ertiga and Swift stay the safe long-term bets on running costs and resale. Mahindra Scorpio remains the default body-on-frame pick under 25 lakh. Nothing here changes our stance on any of those.
