What was announced

Hyundai has revealed the fifth-generation Tucson globally, and the SUV has now been caught on the road in a white exterior shade by the Healer TV YouTube channel, giving the clearest look yet at the production car outside a studio setting. The 2027 Tucson is built around Hyundai's newly-introduced 'Art of Steel' design philosophy.

The global Tucson is a preview of where the Creta and Venue are heading, not a car Indian buyers can walk into a showroom and order.

The design brief is a hard pivot to a boxier, more upright silhouette. The front and rear fascias are near-vertical, panels and lamp housings use clean geometric shapes, and the overall look is described as futuristic with 3D-style detailing. Lighting has been reworked from the ground up: H-shaped LED daytime running lamps sit high on the nose, with the main headlamp units mounted lower in the bumper, a layout Hyundai has been rolling out across its newer global SUVs.

Inside, the fifth-gen Tucson picks up Hyundai's latest tech stack, headlined by the Pleos infotainment interface, the group's new software-defined vehicle platform that will eventually spread across the Hyundai and Kia line-up. The real-world photos confirm the show-car proportions have carried through to production, with no obvious softening of the sharp creases or the vertical tailgate treatment seen in official images. Hyundai has confirmed the SUV goes on sale globally as a 2027 model year vehicle; India-specific plans for the Tucson nameplate have not been announced.

The Car Jury verdict

The Tucson isn't sold in India today and Hyundai has given no indication the fifth-gen car will change that. What matters here for Indian buyers is direction of travel: the boxier 'Art of Steel' look and Pleos software will trickle down to the Creta and Venue in future cycles, and that is where Hyundai's India volume actually sits.

Faisal Khan of FasBeam has pointed out how far Hyundai has pulled ahead of contemporaries like Honda in India, and the Tucson is a reminder why: design cadence. If you want a Hyundai SUV today, our call on the Creta is still WAIT for the next refresh, while the Venue and Creta Electric remain BUYs. The global Tucson is a preview, not a purchase decision.
