Skoda has revealed the Peaq, a seven-seat flagship electric SUV that tops its global EV range above the Enyaq, Elroq and Epiq. The Czech brand is evaluating an India launch, where it would line up against the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volvo EX90 as a halo product.

What was announced

Skoda has unveiled the Peaq as the new flagship of its born-electric global lineup, sitting above the Enyaq, Elroq and the upcoming Epiq. It is offered exclusively as a seven-seater with a 299-litre boot and is aimed at full-size electric SUVs like the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volvo EX90. Skoda has confirmed the Peaq is being evaluated for India, where it would serve as the brand's halo EV.

Skoda finally has a halo EV worth importing, but only if it lands well below the Kia EV9's likely sticker.

Internationally, the Peaq is offered in three variants with two battery packs. The full powertrain matrix is below.

Skoda Peaq international variants
VariantBatteryPowerDrivetrainClaimed range
Peaq 6063kWh204hpRWD, single motorUp to 459km
Peaq 9091kWh286hpRWD, single motorUp to 647km
Peaq 90x91kWh299hpAWD, dual motorUp to 613km

Range figures are on the WLTP cycle. India-spec range, if launched, will likely be lower on the ARAI cycle equivalent. Skoda has not confirmed a launch timeline, pricing or local assembly plans for India.

The Car Jury verdict

The Peaq is the EV Skoda India actually needs at the top of its showroom, not another mid-size electric. A seven-seater with a claimed 647km range and the same MEB underpinnings as the Enyaq gives the brand a credible halo to sit above the Kushaq and Slavia, both of which we rate as BUY and BUY today.

The catch is pricing and tech. Faisal Khan of FasBeam notes that rivals are finally adding Level 2 ADAS, though often as camera-based systems, and that is exactly the bar the Peaq must clear here. Against the Kia EV9, which will likely land via CBU at well over Rs 1 crore, Skoda has room to undercut with a CKD route. Bring it in at Rs 80-90 lakh with the 91kWh pack and the Peaq is a genuine alternative. Price it like the EV9 and it dies on the showroom floor.
