Hyundai's 60% Creta Electric buyback is the honest EV pitch India needed

Hyundai has introduced an assured buyback programme for the Creta Electric, guaranteeing owners 60 percent of the value back after up to three years or 45,000km, whichever comes first. The scheme sits alongside an existing Battery-as-a-Service option that drops the entry price to Rs 10.99 lakh.
What was announced
Hyundai has launched an assured buyback programme for the Creta Electric under which customers receive 60 percent of the value back after up to three years or 45,000km of use, whichever occurs first. The programme is subject to standard terms and conditions and applies to the carmaker's most accessible EV, currently retailing between Rs 18.03 lakh and Rs 23.67 lakh ex-showroom.
A written 60 percent floor turns a vague EV resale fear into a number on a spreadsheet, which is exactly how mid-size SUV buyers think.
Hyundai continues to offer a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option to lower the upfront barrier, with entry pricing from Rs 10.99 lakh and a battery EMI of Rs 3.9 per km on the 42kWh pack. Two lithium-ion battery options are available on the Creta Electric.
| Spec | Standard | Long Range |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 42kWh | 51.4kWh |
| Claimed range | 420km | 510km |
| Motor output | 135hp | 171hp |
| 7.4kW AC charge (10-100%) | 6 hours | 7.15 hours |
The motor is front-axle mounted on both variants. Buyback terms apply to purchases under the assured programme only.
The Car Jury verdict
This is the right move, and it is overdue. EV resale in India is broken because nobody knows what a three-year-old battery is worth, and buyers have quietly priced that uncertainty into their decision to wait. A written 60 percent floor turns a vague fear into a number on a spreadsheet, which is exactly how a mid-size SUV buyer thinks. Rachit Hirani of MotorOctane notes the Creta "feels a little more taller, especially if you have raised the seat," and that ergonomic familiarity is why the Creta Electric already carries our BUY verdict over the petrol Creta, which stays on WAIT. Tata and MG have not matched this guarantee. If you were parked on the fence over residuals, Hyundai has just removed the fence.
