Suzuki's Vision E-Sky, the sub-3.4-metre urban EV concept shown at the Japan Mobility Show last year, has been caught testing in Europe for the first time. The heavily camouflaged prototype confirms the production version is on track for a global launch next year, keeping the concept's tall, narrow proportions largely intact.

What was announced

Autocar India's spy shots show a camouflaged Vision E-Sky prototype running road tests in Europe, the first sighting since the concept broke cover at the Japan Mobility Show in late 2025. The test car wears temporary round headlamps in place of the concept's connected LED signature, suggesting this is early-stage hardware, but the silhouette matches the show car closely.

Suzuki owns the A-segment in India through Maruti, but the E-Sky's kei-car footprint needs serious localisation before it can defend that turf electrically.

The proportions are the headline: tall, upright, narrow-tracked, and unmistakably urban. Suzuki has positioned this as its entry-level born-EV, sitting well below the e-Vitara in the global lineup. Dimensions from the concept sit below every current Maruti hatchback sold in India.

Suzuki has confirmed the production model goes on sale globally in 2027. The company has not specified which markets get it, and there has been no announcement about an Indian launch or a Maruti-badged version. Battery capacity, motor output, and pricing remain undisclosed.

The Car Jury verdict

This is a Europe-and-Japan story for now, and there is no confirmed India timeline for the E-Sky. That matters because Suzuki's Indian EV pipeline is already anchored by the e-Vitara at the top, and the smaller kei-derived footprint here would need serious re-engineering plus a Made-in-India battery to hit an A-segment price. Biturbo Media's observation that most of the cars in the A-segment are from Maruti is exactly why this car is interesting: Maruti owns the sub-S-Presso space, and an electric successor is the logical long-term play against the MG Comet and future Tata micro-EVs.

But 270km of claimed range at concept stage translates to real-world numbers the Windsor EV already beats today. Wait for Suzuki to confirm India before getting attached. Our stance on the e-Vitara stays WAIT.
