MG Hector Tomahawk EV spied undisguised: wait for the August 26 launch
JSW MG's Hector Tomahawk has been spotted testing without camouflage on Indian roads, days before its scheduled August 26 launch. The new three-row electric SUV will sit above the Hector, ride on MG's new ADAPT platform, and is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh.
What was announced
The undisguised test mule caught on Indian roads confirms most of the Hector Tomahawk's production design. The front gets LED headlamps with dual LED DRLs joined by a black trim strip carrying the MG badge. As an EV, the grille is blanked off, with a rectangular air inlet lower in the bumper and vertical air curtains flanking it. The bonnet has subtle ridges, and the test car wore an olive green paint with a black roof and roof rails.
MG's Tomahawk EV is real and nearly here, but the price sheet on August 26 decides whether it dents the Mahindra BE6 and XEV 9E.
In profile, the sides are clean with chrome door handles and a chrome window line. The Tomahawk is the first MG India model to use the ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) architecture, which the carmaker says will underpin future models too. It will slot above the existing Hector in the brand's line-up and comes with seven seats, addressing a gap MG currently plugs with the older Hector Plus.

The Car Jury verdict
The Tomahawk is MG's most important India launch since the Windsor EV, and the spy shots confirm the production car is essentially ready. But buyers should not walk into a showroom on August 27 with a chequebook. Faisal Khan of FasBeam has already flagged how quickly MG re-labels updates as new generations, warning that some recent launches were closer to facelifts than clean-sheet cars. The Tomahawk is genuinely new underneath, but pricing, real-world range on the expected 69.2kWh pack, and warranty terms are the numbers that matter, and none are public yet.
Against the Mahindra BE6 and XEV 9E, both of which we rate BUY, the Tomahawk has to justify a seven-seat premium. Wait for launch pricing and our first drive before booking.
