What was announced

JSW MG Motor India reported wholesale dispatches of 7,568 units in June 2026, its highest monthly total on record. The figure represents a 29.83% year-on-year jump over the 5,829 units sold in June 2025, and a 25.13% sequential rise over May 2026's 6,048 units. The company said electric vehicles accounted for more than 75% of the June mix, implying roughly 5,675 EVs and about 1,893 ICE units for the month.

MG is now effectively an EV brand that also sells petrol SUVs, and the June mix makes that identity official.

MG credited the growth to rising customer preference for electric mobility, higher fuel prices, lower EV running costs and continued volatility in global energy markets. The brand currently sells one of the broadest EV portfolios in India, spanning the Comet EV at the entry end, the volume-driving Windsor EV, the ZS EV, and the premium Cyberster and M9. On the ICE side, MG's line-up is limited to the Astor compact SUV, the Hector mid-size SUV and the Gloster full-size SUV.

The June performance follows a broader trend of double-digit monthly growth for JSW MG through the first half of calendar 2026, driven almost entirely by the Windsor EV, which has established itself as the country's best-selling electric passenger vehicle since its late-2024 launch. The company has not yet disclosed a model-wise split for June 2026.

The Car Jury verdict

MG has effectively become India's first mainstream EV-first brand, and the June 2026 number confirms it isn't a fluke. The Windsor EV is doing the heavy lifting, with the Comet, ZS EV, Cyberster and M9 filling out one of the broadest electric line-ups on sale. The ICE trio of Astor, Hector and Gloster is now a rounding error in MG's own mix.

For buyers, that mix cuts both ways. Rachit Hirani of MotorOctane notes MG's recent habit of launching "EV with ICE", and the after-sales network is still catching up with the volume. Our current stance on the Windsor EV and the Hector remains WAIT: strong products, unresolved questions on long-term service and residuals as JSW MG scales up this fast.
