Hyundai June 2026 Sales Slip 10% After Supplier Fire: A One-Month Blip, Not A Trend

Hyundai Motor India posted 51,335 total units in June 2026, with domestic dispatches at 39,635, down 9.97% year-on-year and 17.15% versus May. The company pinned the drop on a fire at a supplier's plant that disrupted component supply and cost roughly 13,900 units of production during the month.
What was announced
Hyundai Motor India Limited reported total sales of 51,335 units for June 2026, split between 39,635 domestic units and 11,700 exports. Domestic volumes were down 9.97% against June 2025. Sequentially, the domestic number was 8,202 units below the 47,837 posted in May 2026, a 17.15% month-on-month decline.
A 13,900-unit production loss from one supplier fire is a logistics headache for Hyundai, not a signal that Indian buyers have gone cold on the Creta or Venue.
Tarun Garg, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, attributed the shortfall to a fire at one of the company's suppliers, which disrupted the flow of components into HMIL's plants. The company estimates the incident cost approximately 13,900 units of production during June. Hyundai has stated that production has since returned to normal levels and that it expects to recover the lost volumes during the current quarter.

The Car Jury verdict
This is a supply-side stumble, not a demand problem, and the distinction matters for buyers eyeing a Creta, Venue or Exter this festive run-up. Hyundai says production is back to normal and lost volumes will be clawed back this quarter, which means dealer stock should recover well before Navratri. If you have booked a variant that was already on a wait list, expect delivery timelines to hold; if you are shopping now, do not accept a price hike dressed up as a shortage.
Faisal Khan of FasBeam has flagged how far Hyundai has pulled ahead of peers like Honda in India, and that scale is exactly what lets HMIL absorb a 13,900-unit hit without panic. Our standing calls hold: Venue is a BUY, Creta Electric is a BUY, petrol Creta remains a WAIT until the next refresh.
