Honda 0 Alpha EV Spied In Manali: Big Screens Inside, But Where's The Launch?

Honda Cars India's electric SUV prototype, based on the 0 Alpha concept, has been spied testing in Manali by enthusiast Parth Gupta. The latest shots offer the clearest cabin view yet, revealing a large landscape-oriented infotainment touchscreen paired with a fully digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
What was announced
Honda Cars India is deep into real-world validation of its first India-bound electric SUV, derived from the 0 Alpha concept first shown globally. After kicking off pan-India testing earlier in 2026, a camouflaged prototype has surfaced in Manali, with spy shots credited to automotive enthusiast Parth Gupta. The Himachal sighting is significant because high-altitude testing typically targets battery thermal behaviour, regenerative braking calibration, and HVAC load under cold-start conditions.
Honda finally seems to understand cabin tech expectations, but the 0 Alpha must arrive before buyers give up waiting for the brand to modernise.
The exterior remains under heavy camouflage, but the driver's window offered a clear view of the dashboard architecture. The cabin features a wide, freestanding landscape touchscreen mounted centrally on the dash, paired with a separate fully digital instrument cluster sitting behind the steering wheel. The infotainment unit looks visibly larger than anything Honda currently sells in India, including the screens on the Elevate and City facelift. Wireless smartphone integration is expected to be standard given the screen format.
Honda has not yet confirmed a launch window, battery capacity, range figures, or pricing for the India-spec 0 Alpha. Based on prior Honda communication, the EV is positioned as a mid-size to premium SUV and will likely be built at the Tapukara plant. Competition will come from the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Harrier EV. Expect a market launch no earlier than late 2026 given the current testing stage.
The Car Jury verdict
Honda needs this EV to land well, because its current India lineup is running on fumes. Faisal Khan of FasBeam has already flagged that the City is overdue for a generational change, noting Honda "should have come up with the next generation of this car because it is due as per the timelines." Biturbo Media still rates the City as premium against the Verna, but a sedan cannot carry a brand alone in 2026.
The 0 Alpha's giant touchscreen and digital cluster suggest Honda finally understands what Indian buyers expect inside a premium EV. That is welcome, because the Elevate and Amaze both feel a generation behind on cabin tech. Buyers eyeing a Honda EV should wait for pricing and range numbers before getting attached; the hardware looks right, but Honda's India execution record on bold products is patchy.
