Tata has released on-road prices for the Sierra EV across major Indian cities, following its ex-showroom launch. The electric SUV spans five trims priced from Rs 18.79 lakh to Rs 25.99 lakh ex-showroom, with two battery packs and an AWD option on the larger 75kWh version.

What was announced

The Sierra EV is Tata's second AWD electric SUV, sharing its cabin, exterior design and feature set with the combustion Sierra while adding EV-specific colour themes and features. It is offered with a 63kWh or 75kWh battery, both driving the rear axle, with the larger pack also available in a dual-motor AWD configuration. Five trims are on sale: Pure, Pure S, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered A.

The 75kWh RWD in a mid-trim is the Sierra EV sweet spot; the AWD flagship is a want, not a need.

The Car Jury verdict

The Sierra EV slots straight into Tata's premium electric line-up alongside the Harrier EV and Curvv EV, and the on-road numbers make the mid-trims the sweet spot: the top RWD 75kWh sneaks under Rs 27 lakh in Kolkata, while the AWD flagship crosses Rs 28 lakh in Chennai. That AWD premium is only justified if you actually need the traction.

Biturbo Media puts it plainly: "one strong point we always see with Tata is that they build their cars like tanks." Faisal Khan of FasBeam flags that ADAS is "camera-based," not radar-fused, which is worth knowing at this price. Buy the 75kWh RWD in a mid-trim; the AWD is a want, not a need. The petrol Sierra remains the smarter pick if you are not ready to go electric.
