Skoda Slavia Facelift Lands In August 2026: Overdue, But Worth The Wait

Skoda is finally refreshing the Slavia. The mid-size sedan, on sale largely unchanged since November 2021, will get its mid-life facelift in August 2026 with a revised front fascia, updated LED lighting and a modest price increase. The exact launch date is yet to be announced.
What was announced
Skoda India will launch the mid-life facelift of the Slavia in August 2026, roughly four years and nine months after the sedan first went on sale in November 2021. The company has not yet announced an exact launch date, but the confirmation is expected in the coming weeks. Pricing will see a modest increase over the current range, in line with typical mid-cycle updates.
The Slavia underneath is already a buy; a fresher face and updated tech for a small premium make waiting the smarter call.
The changes are focused on the front fascia and lighting. Recent spy shots have revealed a new, larger grille with chunkier vertical slats, redesigned LED headlamps, and reworked bumpers. The silhouette and glasshouse remain unchanged, which is expected for a facelift rather than a full generation update. Skoda is expected to refresh the alloy wheel designs and add new exterior paint options as well.
Inside, the cabin is likely to carry over its existing layout, but with an updated touchscreen infotainment unit running newer software, additional connected-car features and revised upholstery choices. Powertrains are expected to continue unchanged: the 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder petrol and the 1.5-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol, paired with manual, torque converter and DSG options depending on the variant. The Slavia continues to be built at Skoda Auto Volkswagen India's Chakan plant on the MQB-A0-IN platform shared with the Volkswagen Virtus.
The Car Jury verdict
The Slavia has aged gracefully but it has aged. Four years on the same design in a segment where the Honda City has already had two nips and tucks is a long time, and Skoda knows it. The facelift is not a reinvention; it is a tidy-up, and that is exactly what this car needs. Faisal Khan of FasBeam, previewing a related Skoda refresh, noted that "the facelift has been done very well because earlier there was chrome here," a fair summary of how Skoda's current design language cleans up nicely without heavy surgery.
Our stance is simple: if you were going to buy a Slavia this quarter, wait eight weeks. The car underneath is already a BUY, and a fresher face plus updated cabin tech at a small premium is the smarter buy than clearing pre-facelift stock at a token discount.
