Porsche Cayenne Electric hits India on September 30: a Rs 1.76 crore hard sell
Porsche has confirmed September 30 as the official India debut date for the Cayenne Electric, its first battery-powered SUV. Prices were announced late last year, starting at Rs 1.76 crore ex-showroom, with the range topping out in Turbo Electric guise. Two variants will be on sale, both riding on adaptive air suspension as standard.

Porsche India will officially debut the Cayenne Electric on September 30, closing the loop on a launch whose prices were announced late last year. The SUV is offered in two variants, Cayenne Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric, with ex-showroom pricing starting at Rs 1.76 crore.
The Taycan already showed Porsche what India's ceiling for a crore-plus EV looks like; the Cayenne Electric now inherits that ceiling.
Both variants share a 113kWh battery pack, dual-motor all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension as standard. Rear-axle steering is optional, as is an 11kW wireless charging setup. Regenerative braking can recover energy at rates of up to 600kW depending on speed, temperature and battery state.

The Car Jury verdict
Porsche is walking into a segment that has already told it the truth. Rachit Hirani of MotorOctane put it plainly: "the extra investment Porsche has made in electric, they didn't get as many sales." The Taycan proved the ceiling for a six-figure-dollar Porsche EV in India is low, and the Cayenne Electric is being asked to do the heavier lifting at Rs 1.76 crore, sitting alongside the combustion Cayenne that Indian buyers already prefer.
Faisal Khan of FasBeam noted about a stablemate that "the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS costs Rs 1.16 crore less, is faster, sharper, cooler." That maths bites here too. The Turbo Electric's 2.5 second launch is a party trick; the Macan and the ICE Cayenne remain the smarter Porsche buys in India. Wait for the road test.
