Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq Formula E Freedom Edition: A Sticker Job at Rs 24.45 Lakh
Mahindra has launched the BE 6 Sporteq Formula E Freedom Edition in two variants, FE at Rs 24.45 lakh and FE Four at Rs 26.95 lakh, ex-showroom. It arrives less than a year after the original BE 6 Formula E Edition, which has now been pulled from Mahindra's website.
What was announced
Mahindra has replaced the earlier BE 6 Formula E Edition with a new Formula E Freedom Edition, positioned within the rebranded BE 6 Sporteq line-up. Two variants are on sale, both ex-showroom.
The original Formula E Edition had a face of its own. The Freedom Edition is the same BE 6 with badges, decals and a new red paint.

The new edition drops the outgoing Formula E Edition's differentiated design language. Gone are the slim front and rear DRLs, the circular LED headlamps and the chunkier bumpers. In their place, the Freedom Edition wears the standard BE 6 Sporteq's C-shaped DRLs and sleeker bumpers, so at a glance it is nearly indistinguishable from a regular BE 6.
The changes that mark it out are cosmetic. Mahindra adds Formula E badging on the front fenders, a new Rosso Impulso exterior colour option and tri-colour decals scattered across the bodywork, referencing Mahindra Racing's Formula E identity. The previous BE 6 Formula E Edition has been pulled from Mahindra's website, confirming this is a straight replacement rather than a parallel variant. Mahindra has not indicated any mechanical, battery or software changes over the equivalent BE 6 Sporteq trims; positioning, feature list and powertrain carry over from the donor variants on which the FE and FE Four are based.
The Car Jury verdict
This is a decal exercise dressed up as a special edition. The original BE 6 Formula E Edition had a genuinely differentiated face, unique DRLs, circular headlamps and chunkier bumpers. The Freedom Edition drops all of it and reverts to the standard BE 6 Sporteq body, keeping only fender badges, tri-colour decals and a new Rosso Impulso paint. Faisal Khan of FasBeam put it bluntly about Mahindra's approach to special editions: "this is not something they had thought about when designing this car back when it was launched." It shows. If you want a BE 6, buy the standard car, which we rate a BUY, and skip the sticker premium. If you want the racier Formula E look, you have already missed the bus, because Mahindra just deleted it.
