Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 Base: The Honest Buy In The Facelift Lineup
Mahindra has detailed the base Z2 trim of the 2026 Scorpio N facelift, priced from Rs 13.69 lakh ex-showroom for the petrol and Rs 14.19 lakh for the diesel. What was announced
Mahindra launched the 2026 Scorpio N facelift in a price band of Rs 13.69 lakh to Rs 25.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The base Z2 walkaround confirms both engine options are offered at this trim, but only with a six-speed manual gearbox. Automatic buyers must step up the ladder.
The Z2 is where the Scorpio N's value case is sharpest, a ladder-frame seven-seater under Rs 15 lakh with nothing comparable in the segment.

Automatic transmission and 4XPLOR four-wheel drive are not offered on Z2; both are reserved for higher trims.
The Z2 keeps the Scorpio N's core hardware intact: the ladder-frame chassis, independent front suspension with a Watts-link rear, projector headlamps and the seven-seat cabin layout. Kit that is deleted at this level includes the panoramic sunroof, Sony 12-speaker audio, 540-degree surround view with blind view monitor and the Level 2 ADAS suite, all of which are limited to the top variant. Buyers still get the basic safety package, air-conditioning, power windows and Mahindra's essential infotainment interface, which the walkaround confirms covers the daily-use bases without any premium flourishes.

The Z2 is the Scorpio N variant that actually makes sense on a spreadsheet. You still get the 2.0 turbo petrol or the 2.2 diesel, the same ladder-frame body, and Mahindra's core mechanical package, minus the panoramic roof, Sony audio, 540-degree cameras and Level 2 ADAS that push the top trim past Rs 25 lakh. For a body-on-frame seven-seater under Rs 15 lakh, nothing else comes close.
Team-BHP has rightly noted that Mahindra's earlier sub-four-metre body-on-frame attempts, the Quanto and Novo Sport, never landed; the Scorpio N is the version that finally worked, and the Z2 is where its value case is sharpest.
