Mahindra, now India's third-largest carmaker by volume, has confirmed a pipeline of more than 15 new SUVs spanning ICE, electric and hybrid powertrains. The roll-out begins with the Scorpio-N facelift, expected around August 2026, followed by a refreshed Scorpio Classic and a wave of new and updated models through 2027.

What was announced

Mahindra has confirmed a product offensive of more than 15 new SUVs for India, covering ICE, electric and hybrid powertrains. The headline launch is the Scorpio-N facelift, slated for around August 2026. It gets a revised grille, updated LED headlamps, new bumpers and fresh alloys outside. The cabin upgrades include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines carry over.

Mahindra is the only Indian carmaker launching ICE, EV and hybrid versions of the same nameplate, and that optionality is what buyers actually want.

Alongside the Scorpio-N, Mahindra will refresh the Scorpio Classic with a new front fascia, updated grille and revised bumpers, targeted at the sub-15 lakh body-on-frame buyer who still prefers the older silhouette.

The Car Jury verdict

Mahindra is doing what Tata and Hyundai have not: flooding the SUV shelf with product across every price band and every powertrain at once. The Scorpio-N facelift finally getting Level 2 ADAS is overdue, though Faisal Khan of FasBeam notes it is a camera-based system, not radar-fused, so do not expect Hyundai-grade highway behaviour. Rachit Hirani of MotorOctane sums up the strategy bluntly, that Mahindra is now launching EVs alongside ICE on the same nameplates, which is exactly the optionality buyers want.

Our call: the Scorpio-N facelift is worth the wait if you are shopping in August, but do not hold off the BE 6 or XEV 9e, both of which we rate a BUY today. Biturbo Media's worry about rising electronic dependency is fair, and it applies to this entire pipeline.
