Kia Syros EV: 520km Range, Rs 15-20 Lakh Price Puts Nexon EV On Notice

Kia has unofficially opened bookings for the Syros EV at Rs 25,000, with a launch expected by the end of July 2026. Dealer sources confirm the compact SUV will use the same battery packs as the Carens Clavis EV, with ARAI-claimed range going up to 520km on the long-range version.
What was announced
Kia India has unofficially started accepting Syros EV bookings at Rs 25,000, with dealer sources indicating a launch by the end of July 2026. It will be the brand's second ICE-to-EV conversion after the Carens Clavis EV, and slots into the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh bracket, going head-to-head with the Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV and the upcoming Mahindra BE 6 entry variants.
Kia is now selling EVs with ICE from the same showroom, and the Syros EV's 520km claim is the sharpest anti-anxiety pitch in the segment.
| Variant | Battery | ARAI Range |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Range | 42 kWh | ~420 km |
| Long Range | 51.4 kWh | ~520 km |
Both packs are shared with the Carens Clavis EV. Motor is front-mounted; power figures are yet to be disclosed.
On the design front, the Syros EV will get EV-specific cues over its ICE sibling, following the template set by the Carens Clavis EV. Expect a closed-off fascia, unique alloy wheel design, neon-green brake callipers and EV badging. Test mules have been spotted heavily camouflaged. Feature additions could include a camera-based Level 2 ADAS setup, vehicle-to-load capability, and the dual-screen dashboard already seen on the ICE Syros. Launch prices and full spec sheet are expected alongside the reveal later this month.
The Car Jury verdict
The Syros EV lands in the most crowded pocket of India's EV market: Rs 15-20 lakh, where the Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV and Mahindra BE 6 are all fighting hard. Kia's play here is range. 520km ARAI on the 51.4kWh pack, if it holds up, undercuts the anxiety pitch every rival is still making. The 42kWh entry version at a claimed 420km is arguably the sharper buy for city users.
Rachit Hirani of MotorOctane bluntly notes Kia is now "launching EVs with ICE," and that dual-fuel strategy is exactly why the Syros EV matters: shared showroom, shared service, no compromise on boot or cabin versus the petrol car. If Kia prices the base variant under Rs 16 lakh, our Seltos and Sonet BUY calls get company. Wait for the launch price before booking.
