Kia Sorento bookings open in India: three-row flagship gets serious

Kia has officially opened bookings for the Sorento in India and released a first teaser, weeks after dealers began accepting unofficial expressions of interest. The three-row SUV can now be reserved at Kia showrooms or on the brand's website, with a full launch and price reveal expected in the coming weeks.
What was announced
Bookings for the India-bound Sorento are now live through Kia dealerships and the brand's official website, following what dealer sources described as an unofficial booking window that opened in July. Kia has not yet disclosed the booking amount or a confirmed launch date, but the accompanying teaser signals that a reveal is close.
Kia finally has a proper flagship above the Carnival, but the Sorento has to justify Fortuner-adjacent money without a Fortuner badge.
The teaser keeps most of the SUV under wraps, showing only T-shaped LED daytime running lights, vertically stacked headlights, partially visible fog lamps, roof rails and a long profile. For reference, the international-spec Sorento measures 4,815mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,700mm tall, which puts it well above the Seltos and into premium three-row territory.
The cabin has not been shown, but based on the global car and Indian test mules, the equipment list is expected to include:
| Area | Expected kit |
|---|---|
| Displays | Dual 12.3-inch infotainment and cluster |
| Safety | Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera |
| Comfort | Panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered driver's seat, head-up display |
| Console | Rotary gear selector, electronic parking brake |
Powertrain and variant-wise features remain unconfirmed pending Kia's official launch.
The Car Jury verdict
The Sorento finally gives Kia India a proper flagship above the Carnival, and the spec sheet reads like a Toyota Fortuner buyer's shopping list translated for the tech-first crowd: dual 12.3-inch screens, head-up display, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera and ventilated seats. On paper, that is a much softer, more premium proposition than the ladder-frame brigade.
The catch is the segment. As Gagan Choudhary notes, even the Seltos and Creta automatics get vocal under load; a heavier, longer Sorento will need a diesel that actually earns its keep. Book a test drive, do not blind-book. If the pricing lands anywhere near Fortuner territory, wait for the driven review. Kia's own Carens already carries our WAIT tag; the Sorento has more to prove, not less.
