2026 Maybach GLS 680 Facelift: More Chrome, Bigger V8, Same Chauffeur Brief
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2026 facelift of the Maybach GLS 680, adopting the styling language of the regular GLS facelift while layering on Maybach-only detailing, a more powerful V8, the Hyperscreen triple-display cabin, extra sound deadening and fresh 22-inch alloys as standard.
What was announced
The 2026 Maybach GLS 680 shares its updated architecture with the regular GLS facelift revealed earlier this year, but layers Maybach-specific hardware and trim over it. At the front, reshaped LED headlamps carry dual three-pointed star DRL signatures, and the signature chrome-heavy grille now gets illumination for both its surround and the Maybach wordmark. The Mercedes-Benz bonnet emblem can be optionally illuminated. The front bumper has been subtly reprofiled, and two new exterior shades, Dark Petrol and Verde Silver Metallic, join the palette.
The Maybach GLS 680 sells because the person in the second row wants to be seen, not because the person behind the wheel wants to drive.
The side profile is largely carried over, but 22-inch alloy wheels are now standard, with 23-inch monoblock wheels offered as an option. Powered side steps that illuminate at night are standard, and the doors get Maybach logo puddle projectors. The rear-end styling has been refreshed in line with the wider GLS facelift.
Inside, the cabin adopts Mercedes-Benz's Hyperscreen triple-display layout, spanning the driver's cluster, central infotainment and front passenger screen. Sound deadening has been increased across the cabin to further isolate rear occupants. The 680 badge continues to denote the twin-turbo V8, which has been upgraded for the facelift with higher outputs, retaining the mild-hybrid EQ Boost system. Full India launch timing and pricing have not been announced, but the outgoing car retails at over Rs 3 crore ex-showroom, and the facelift is expected to command a premium over that.
The Car Jury verdict
The Maybach GLS has never been about the driver, and this facelift doubles down. The illuminated grille, powered side steps that light up at night, Maybach door projectors and Hyperscreen dashboard are aimed squarely at the second-row occupant being photographed getting out at a wedding in Jaipur. That is the job, and it does it better than a Bentayga or Cullinan at this price.
The wider Mercedes SUV range is where actual buyers should look.
