Nissan Tekton Bags India Book Of Records With 60-SUV Convoy To Leh
Nissan Motor India has entered the India Book Of Records with a 60-vehicle single-model convoy of its new Tekton SUV, driven from Chandigarh to Leh via Manali and Zanskar Valley. The 700+ km media drive crossed Shinku La Pass at 16,703 feet and sets the mark for the largest four-wheeler convoy of one model to reach Leh.

Nissan Motor India organised a media drive for its newest SUV, the Tekton, staging a 60-vehicle single-model convoy from Chandigarh to Leh. The Car Jury was part of the group. The run has been certified by the India Book Of Records for the largest convoy of a single-model four-wheeler to reach Leh, with 60 Tekton SUVs completing the journey.
Ladakh is India's toughest showroom, and Nissan just parked 60 Tektons in it.
The route ran Chandigarh to Manali to Zanskar Valley and finally to Leh city, covering more than 700 km. The altitude swing was significant, starting at roughly 1,053 feet in Chandigarh and topping out at 16,703 feet at Shinku La Pass before descending to Leh. The convoy tackled the full mix of Himalayan road conditions the region is known for, from broken tarmac to high-altitude passes with thinning air.
The Tekton is Nissan's newest India launch and the brand's push back into the mid-size SUV segment. It uses a turbo petrol engine, making Nissan the second Japanese brand after Toyota and Suzuki's tie-up to offer a turbo petrol option in this segment. The engine features a mirror-bore cylinder coating rather than conventional sleeves, a technique Nissan has previously used on the GT-R. The Car Jury verdict
A record run is a marketing stunt, but the Tekton has picked a smart one. Ladakh is the toughest showroom in India, and putting 60 identical SUVs through Shinku La at 16,703 feet is a credibility play Nissan badly needed after years of thin product news. The brand now has a genuine three-SUV story here alongside the Magnite and the Gravite.
As Faisal Khan of FasBeam notes, the Tekton also makes Nissan the latest Japanese brand to bring a turbo petrol to India, leaving Honda as the sole holdout. Biturbo Media points out that the engine uses a mirror-bore coating borrowed from the GTR, no cylinder sleeves. That is a proper technical calling card. The convoy proves the SUV can survive Ladakh; the showroom test starts now.
