What was announced

Citroen India has rolled out the Aircross Comfort Edition a few days after the eC3X launch, positioning it as a limited-run model aimed at lifting perceived value without a sticker hike. Prices start at Rs 9.09 lakh ex-showroom, with the edition offered across multiple variants of the compact SUV range.

Standard leatherette and proper headrests should have been on the Aircross from launch, not arriving in 2026 as a special edition.

The headline change is cabin material. Metropolitan Beige leatherette upholstery is now standard on every variant, including the entry trim, which previously made do with fabric. Citroen has also added adjustable front and rear headrests across the range, addressing a long-running complaint about rear-seat ergonomics on the Aircross. Depending on the variant, buyers also get revised interior trims, though Citroen has not detailed the trim-by-trim breakdown beyond the upholstery and headrest upgrades.

Mechanically nothing has changed. The Aircross continues with the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations. Citroen is pitching the Comfort Edition as a response to buyer demand for a more premium cabin at lower price points, a tacit acknowledgement that the Aircross has lagged rivals like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Maruti Brezza on perceived in-cabin richness since its 2023 launch. The edition is being sold through Citroen's existing La Maison dealer network.

The Car Jury verdict

This is a feature top-up dressed as a special edition, and it tells you everything about where the Aircross sits in the pecking order. Citroen needed leatherette as standard from day one in a segment where the Nexon, Venue and Sonet have set cabin expectations. Faisal Khan of FasBeam puts it bluntly: "this is not something they had thought about when designing this car back when it was launched in 2020." That gap is what Citroen is patching now.

For buyers, the math is simple. At Rs 9.09 lakh ex-showroom the entry Aircross now reads better on a feature list, but the Nexon and Venue still out-equip it on touchscreen, ADAS-adjacent kit and dealer reach. Buy the Comfort Edition only if you have already decided the Aircross ride and 1.2 turbo suit you; do not let the leatherette do the deciding.
